Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are the only Canadian team that qualifies in the NBA which is sad but good at the same time because they are doing well this season. The Raptors record so far in the season is 20-21. The key player for them is Chris Bosh and has set a new record for highest amount of points scored for the Raptors which is 9428. The "Raps" have a two game winning streak as of today. They play better at home than they do away, as the records show that there home games are 13-6 and away they are 8-14. They play really well when they play in there city, on there home court just as other teams do but the Raptors bring it to a whole new level when they play at the ACC ( Air Canada Centre ). A player that is also beginning to rise up and show his talent and skill is Andrea Bargnani. He use to be sitting on the bench when games started but then he knew he had to do something about it and so he worked hard and now he is one of the leaders of the team. He averages 17.3 ppg which is a decent amount for him. Raptors are beginning to bring up players that are out of the country and it is helping the team and in my opinion they will defiantly have a solid spot in the playoffs.

Hypocrite, Cookie Jar, City, Telephone

Dear Diary,

Today was a day like every other day. I woke up this morning around six thirty and felt like I had no energy in me. I thought it was my blood sugar had dropped so I quickly took a shower and had some Cheerios and grabbed a cookie from the cookie jar. I felt a bit better until my telephone rang. It was was neighbor who always tells me to rake the leaves because when the wind picks up all of the leaves go into his yard. He is one of the biggest hypcrites ever because he calls me to tell me to rake but when I look over at his yard his yard is also a mess. So that means I have to go outside and rake in the cold. So thats what I did and when I finished, I was still kind of mad because he called me and other things so I threw some of the leaves in his yard! After I finished I felt like haveing a nice glass of milk. So when I opened the fridge I noticed that there was no milf left. That means I have to go into the city to go buy some in the freezing weather when I'm tired. So when I get to the store I buy the milk and some other groceries that I needed and am about to leave when I noticed my car was getting towed for being in the 15 min parking for 20 min. That is how my day went.

Use these words.. Dogs, Beach, Trainer, Bills and Pie

Dear Diary,
Today was one hell of a day. I thought weekends were suppost to be fun and relaxing, but mine was not. I was going to sleep in but then my dog started barking and jumped into my bed, woke me up, and I started my day off with headache. So I jumped into the shower and took my time but then I realized that I was going to be late for my personel workout with my trainer that was going to happen in less than 15 minutes when it will take me another 30 mins to get there. So I quickley jumped out of the shower and put on my sweats and drove there in a hurry. Once I got there he had been waiting for over 30 minutes, and he looked like he was going to kill me. When I walked towards him he was ready to give me a lecture on being late and how it is very rude, but once that was over I had to get down to work. We went for about an hour and a half and I was completely exhausted. He then gave me a recipe for a healthy protein filled pie, and he said that it would help me get natural proteins and the vitamins for me to stay fit. Today was the last of the traning so I had to pay up today. So then he told me to "pay up the bills". I handed over the money and then he left, and the place where we usually work out is creally close to the beach and I was really hot. So to cool down I jumped in and felt wonderfull. What a tiring day.

Three Day Road

In the book Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden, I chose a quote which deals with the cruelness that happens today and also in the past. The quote is "When I was caught speaking my tounge, they'd force lye soap into my mouth and not give me anything else to eat for days". People across the world do do these kind of things to there own families and friends for different purposes. Some religions ban people from speaking other languages and just to speak there tounge for the rest of there lives, and if you were to disobey and to speak a different language then you would face the horrible consiquences. I found out some information of people getting whipped because they chose to be free and do something new, for this perticular reason it was for cutting his hair. People should be free and chose what they want to do with there life and dont let anyone control it. In the past people would usually get killed because of little reasons like cutting there hair, speaking of different language, or even showing your face. If it was me in someone elses shoes who was getting tortured, I wouldnt be able to take it because I cant take that kind of stuff. I would fight back and do something about it, and if I failed, I would know that I tried my best to fight for what is right.

Novel Research

The novel that I have started is called Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden. The setting is placed during World War I. It takes place in the wilderness in Northern Ontario and on the battle feilds of France and Belgium. World War I was a deadly and bloody battle. More than 70 million military personnel were mobilized in one of the largest wars in history. The immidiate cause of the war was the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinend of Austria on June 28th 1914. The major battles of World War I are The Battle of Verdun (1916), The Battle of The Marne (1914,1918), The Battle of Ypres(1914,1915,1917), The Battle of Somme (1916), and finally The Battle of Cambrai (1917). Native People were the number one on the list for volunteering for the war.

1) "The Perils of Indifference" is like precariousness of callousness.

2) The ending of "The Lottery" is very shocking an unexpected. We as readers would think that the story was very unrealistic due to the fact of people killing there own for no reason what so ever, but if you think about this, this kind of stuff happens everyday in our world. For example the Rawanda genocide, the Hutu's and the Tootsies. These people started to kill there own and didnt stop. It turned in to a blood bath. "The Lottery tells us that they have the lottery ticket every year, and once person must die. The Holocaust people had been sent on a ship hoping to get off in Canada to be safe and away from the Nazis and when they got here we turned them down because we didnt want any part of it, we didnt care because it didnt have anything to do with us. That is the reason why people die everyday, because we dont pay enough attention to those who need our help. The world needs to change, otherwise we will all fall apart.

3) Elie Wiesel's speech " The Perils of Indifference" is very true and relates to "The Lottery" in many ways. The speech shows us how the world really is, and how much we do and care for things and people. One thing that stuck out to me was "It is so much easier to look away from victims. It is so much easier to avoid such rude interruptions to our work, our dreams, our hopes." Those sentences stand out to me a lot because it is 100% true. We don't want anything to get in our ways. We think it is easier to avoid the things in the world like innocent children dieing in Africa, to keep our mind focused on ourselves. For example a commercial that I see a lot on TV has to due with African children dieing from diseases, so when this commercial comes on 50% of people will just change the channel because they don't want to see the kids like that. If people actually paid attention to the commercial and we did something about it, we would make CHANGE.

Basketball

Every since the first time I watched a NBA basketball game on TV, I have always wanted to play. I started playing basketball on a school team in grade 4. We didn't actually have games against other schools. It was more like a camp. We did a lot of different types of drills which taught us the basics of basketball. I was probably one of the worst players on the court. When I realized that I wanted to get somewhere with the game, I would have to practice really hard. This year I got the Athelete of the year award, was not easy to get. Had to go through a lot of challenges and rough times during basketball games and volleyball games too. Most players in high school play there sports during the years and stop when they graduate. I don't want that, I want to continue on and hopefully play basketball for a University team or if that does not happen then I would join a club team or a community team. I have seen old Friends that have graduated from high school that played basketball through there four years in school and stopped, and the result of that they gained an extreme amount of weight and got lazier than ever. That is another reason I do not want to stop playing the sport. Whenever there was a game to be played or a tournament, It wasn't about winning that I cared about the most, it still was important but not as important as playing the game I play to have fun and learn.
